Star Ruler is a 4X/RTS Hybrid on a grand scale. Mod everything, design anything; play what you want, how you want, when you want. In production since 2008 and working to a Summer release next year, Star Ruler endeavors to be a milestone in 4X/RTS history... now hosted here at SWR Productions

Features:
  • Enormous, detailed, galaxies. Up to 1000 systems each with their own stars, planets, moons, and asteroid belts.
  • Six distinct paths to victory. Combat, Espionage, Diplomatic, Research, Economic, and Exploration paths give players a choice of gameplay styles.
  • Design your own ships and give them one of many premade hulls, or mod in your own.

Mod the game in every way:
  • Create skins for the UI, or scripts to dictate its behavior.
  • Add new elements to the gameplay, either new items to place on ships, or entirely new mechanics not in the original game.
  • Share your creations with others through the in-game content manager.
  • Take your battles online. Massive fights in a massive universe; support for up to eight players. Save the whole game when dawn breaks and boot it back up at dusk; it isn't over until you say it is!
  • That's no moon. With an entire galaxy's worth of resources at your fingertips, why let it go to waste on simple starfighters? Build massive Dyson Spheres,
  • Black Hole manipulators, and Star Cannons to crush your foe's dreams of conquest. Strap huge engines, shields, and guns on to your worlds and transform your homeworlds from a resource to be held or taken into a deadly adversary.
  • Truly freeform camera. Players have an option of a standard camera, as if attached to a pole, or a completely free camera - see the game from any direction you require with ease.

Hello everyone,

I'm saddened to report that due to personal reasons Stinger has decided to leave SWR as leader from ShockWave and relieve himself from all his other duties that where tied to this position.
We wish him well and good luck in the future with his life and plans.

In order to bolster our own moderation team we have also decided to promote Shock to Moderator of SWR.

Additionaly for those who wonder what this will mean for ShockWave, Sharpnessism was chosen by stinger himself to replace his duties and he has accepted this offer.

So congratulations to Sharp and Shock on your promotions smile.gif

The VGO Development team has released a new version of their mod project which includes a large ammount of new tweaks and other fixed such as a new shellmap and many balance fixes.

Here is a small portion of the new features it includes:

New Features:
New Optimized fast loading shell map
Fire propagation - when trees catch fire, the fire can spread to other trees
Agent Blue causes trees to become "poisoned", considerably damaging infantry until trees regrow
New Font for main menu
Broken Arrow Overhaul - rather than one large strike, you get smaller more frequent strikes. OV-10 Bronco is sent in orbit the area and you can select where the air strikes hit, much like how targeting works for the AC-130 Gunships.
New special effects for napalm
Visual improvements to the jungle trees
